Basta...

basta

teu nome se eleva todas as manhãs
esquenta o mundo e declina
solitário em meu coração
sol em meu coração.

Melancolia

À volta todas as rosas eram vermelhas

O ar demasiado suave, demasiado verde o mar.

Eu receio sempre, e eu não sei porquê,
Um lamentável afastamento de ti.
Eu estou cansado dos ramos de azevinho
E enfadado do alegre espinheiro

De todos os infindáveis caminhos do país;
De tudo, meu Deus! exceto de ti.

''SONHOS NO CREPÚSCULO''

Sonhos no crepúsculo,
Apenas sonhos encerrando o dia,
Retornando-o com tal desfecho,
Aos tons cinza, escurecidos,
Às coisas fundas e longínquas
Do território dos sonhos.

Sonhos, apenas sonhos no crepúsculo,
Apenas as rotas imagens lembradas

Carl Sandburg

''Dreams in the Dusk''

DREAMS in the dusk,
Only dreams closing the day
And with the day’s close going back
To the gray things, the dark things,
The far, deep things of dreamland.

Dreams, only dreams in the dusk,
Only the old remembered pictures
Of lost days when the day’s loss
Wrote in tears the heart’s loss.

Tears and loss and broken dreams
May find your heart at dusk.

''IN TEMPORE SENECTUTIS''

When I am old,
And sadly steal apart,
Into the dark and cold,
Friend of my heart!
Remember, if you can,
Not him who lingers, but that other man,
Who loved and sang, and had a beating heart,--
When I am old!

When I am old,
And all Love's ancient fire
Be tremulous and cold:
My soul's desire!
Remember, if you may,
Nothing of you and me but yesterday,
When heart on heart we bid the years conspire
To make us old.

When I am old,
And every star above
Be pitiless and cold:
My life's one love!
Forbid me not to go:
Remember nought of us but long ago,
And not at last, how love and pity strove
When I grew old!

‘Quando eu for velho’

Quando eu for velho
E tristemente posto de parte,
Na escuridão e ao frio,
Amigo do meu coração!
Lembra-te, se puderes,
Não dele que vacila,
Mas daquele outro homem
Que amava e cantava
E tinha um coração que batia,
Quando eu for velho!

Quando eu for velho,
E todo o antigo fogo do amor
Se tornar trêmulo e frio:
Meu desejo de alma!
Lembra-te, se puderes,
Nada de ti ou de mim
Senão ontem,
Quando coração no coração
Nós mandamos os anos conspirar
Para nos tornar velhos.

Quando eu for velho,

'A LAST WORD'

Let us go hence: the night is now at hand;
The day is overworn, the birds all flown;
And we have reaped the crops the gods have sown
Despair and death; deep darkness o'er the land,
Broods like an owl; we cannot understand
Laughter or tears, for we have only known
Surpassing vanity: vain things alone
Have driven our perverse and aimless band.

Let us go hence, somewhither strange and cold,
To Hollow Lands where just men and unjust
Find end of labour, where's rest for the old,
Freedom to all from love and fear and lust.
Twine our torn hands! O pray the earth enfold
Our life-sick hearts and turn them into dust.

''In Spring''

See how the trees and the osiers lithe
Are green bedecked and the woods are blithe,
The meadows have donned their cape of flowers,
The air is soft with the sweet May showers,
And the birds make melody:
But the spring of the soul, the spring of the soul,
Cometh no more for you or for me.

The lazy hum of the busy bees
Murmureth through the almond trees;
The jonquil flaunteth a gay, blonde head,
The primrose peeps from a mossy bed,
And the violets scent the lane.
But the flowers of the soul, the flowers of the soul,
For you and for me bloom never again.

''OS DIAS DE VINHO E ROSAS'

Não são longos, o riso e o choro,
o amor, o desejo e o ódio;
Porção nenhuma em nós terão,
imagino,

''THEY ARE NOT LONG'' (Vitae Summa Brevis)

HEY are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
        Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
        We pass the gate.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
        Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for awhile, then closes
        Within a dream.
